National Crime Victims’ Rights Week 2025 is in full swing across New York State, with dozens of events highlighting the week’s powerful theme: “Connecting < KINSHIP > Healing.” From Albany to Rochester, and from the Hudson Valley to the North Country, survivors, advocates, and allies are coming together to raise awareness and support healing.
Local communities are hosting candlelight vigils, survivor speak-outs, workshops, and resource fairs. These gatherings are more than just events—they are affirmations of unity, providing safe spaces for connection and visibility. County-level district attorneys’ offices, local domestic violence shelters, mental health centers, and tribal organizations are all contributing to a week filled with compassion and collaboration.
In Syracuse, survivors are leading a panel on the power of peer support. In Yonkers, youth organizations are creating murals dedicated to victims’ rights. And across the state, social media campaigns are helping to educate the public about victim services, access to justice, and trauma-informed care.
